FC Mulhouse France expands its Global Player Development Plan by signing a partnership agreement with the largest youth club in the Portland, PCU.
Like FCM in France, PCU in Portland has a long history of developing players that have moved on to the highest levels. PCU continually feeds the Portland Timbers Academy with some of it's best players while FCM has an historic past beginning in 1893 in Mulhouse, FR and has long since been a hub for World level player development with players such as Arsene Wenger and Didier Six among many other that have found their way through FCM on their way to the top of European Football.
FCM is owned by an American group of partners with President Gary Allen having ties in Portland. Gary was the previous President of FCM Portland playing in the NPSL a 4th division team that made the National Semi-Finals in 2018 under the guidance of the new FCM Portland President and Head Coach Sergio Medel.
FCM France feels like Portland is a large untapped market for player talent. Portland was dubbed "Soccer City USA" by Merritt Paulsen, Owner of the MLS Franchise Portland Timbers..FCM believes one of the missing components of tapping into that talent is something FCM France will provide. Direct contact planning of a comprehensive player development program that has been tailored to fit the dynamic of football in the USA. FCM France Director of Football, Eric Descombes, hold his UEFA Pro License.
Eric played professional football in France and England then finished his career in the USA. He then became the director of a large youth club in Indianapolis, Indiana and was of the directors of the Region 2 ODP program. With this vast experience and knowledge of European football added to the experience of football in the USA, Eric is able to refine a development program that fits the dynamic of the USA market but has the key elements of the European development model specifically the French model.
This relationship between PCU and FCM is quite different than most of the European / USA partnerships out there where most are via a third party company utilizing some of the programs the Europe clubs use, PCU has a direct line of contact with the entire Europe staff of FCM. FCM France will also offer full time and part time residential programs available to all PCU players. FCM is very excited to be partnered with a club in the USA that is already at the forefront of both business and player development in this great sport of Football (soccer).
