Air Quality Update: Monday 9/21

The air quality index (AQI) in Portland is in the moderate range as of 3pm today. As a result, all practices are on as scheduled.

Players with asthma or other respiratory conditions should have rescue inhalers available and pre-treat before exercise or as directed by their healthcare provider. Athletes with respiratory illness, asthma, or heart conditions should exercise caution and use their best judgement regarding their attendance tonight, and if they attend they should monitor their symptoms carefully and be prepared to cease activities.  Coaches will be increasing the training session's rest periods and monitoring conditions on the field as well.

We will continue to monitor the air quality for our September 22nd training sessions, and we will make a decision regarding those by mid-day tomorrow. Below you will find the current AQI in Portland as well as the AQI chart utilized by the club for practice cancellation decisions, which is adopted from the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) and the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).

As a reminder, players are now required to wear masks before, during, and after training sessions beginning this week, as we will now be conducting practice activities with contact in which players are closer than six feet.

Players should also be sure to wear their red training jersey to practice, and they should bring their white and black jerseys as alternate training tops.

Lastly, parents are reminded to avoid congregating at entrances and exits at the field complex. If parents must leave their vehicles for drop-off or pick-up, they are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
