Club Protocols (Updated May '21)

We have developed the following protocols in accordance with the most recent guidance of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). The information outlined in this document is meant to minimize risks and prioritize the health and safety of all club members, and has been updated on 5/27/21.


Masks No Longer Mandated:


PCU is no longer mandating face coverings for players, coaches, and spectators during outdoor club events (training, games, etc.) at Buckman Field Park based on the most recent guidance from the CDC, OHA, City of Portland, and Portland Parks & Recreation. Unvaccinated players, or those in high-risk categories, are strongly encouraged to continue to wear a mask. All players, coaches and spectators are still required to wear a mask if entering the office/restrooms at Buckman Field.


For events at locations outside of Buckman Field Park, please continue to follow the requirements & guidelines set in place by those facilities. For spectators at Buckman Field Park, we ask that you continue to limit yourself to two spectators per player, stay outside of the track when viewing, and follow all COVID mitigation practices, including:

  • Wearing a mask if you are unvaccinated or in a high-risk categories, strongly encouraged

  • Frequently washing or sanitizing hands and covering mouth/nose when coughing/sneezing

  • Social distance

  • Stay home if you feel sick or a family member is sick. Notify your coach or a club director if you have an exposure to COVID or a confirmed case of COVID

If you have any questions or concerns about participating or the club's protocols, please notify the club director, Shaun Figueiredo, at shaun@pcusc.org.

  • No signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever over 100 degrees, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, persistent headaches, muscle or body aches, sore throat, diarrhea, congestion or runny nose, nausea, or vomiting.

  • No close contact or exposure to anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Notify Shaun Figueiredo (shaun@pcusc.org) immediately if any of the situations below occur:

- The player has tested positive for COVID-19.

- The player has COVID-19 symptoms (see above)

- The player has been in close contact with anyone exhibiting symptoms or anyone who has

tested positive with COVID-19.

  • Practice social distancing of 6 ft when entering and exiting the facility.

  • No group celebrations, high fives, hugs, handshakes, or non-essential contact of any kind. No spitting.

  • Do not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before your scheduled practice time, or before the designated arrival time for games. If you do, please remain in your car or outside of the field complex. After training sessions and games, return to your vehicle/pick-up area immediately. Do not linger at the fields or in common areas.

  • Place bags and equipment at least 6 ft apart. Do not touch or share anyone's equipment, water or any other items.

  • Players should wear their red PCU jersey to practice and should bring their white and black jerseys as alternate tops.

  • Wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer before and after all training sessions.

  • Ensure players are aware of and adhering to the Player Responsibilities, as noted above.

  • Ensure all clothing, equipment, cleats, ball, shin guards, etc. are sanitized before and after every training session and game.


Parents, coaches, and club staff should notify Shaun Figueiredo (shaun@pcusc.org) immediately if any of the situations below occur:


- Player has tested positive for COVID-19.

- Payer has COVID-19 symptoms.

- Player has been in close contact with anyone exhibiting symptoms or anyone who has

tested positive with COVID-19.


If a player/coach tests positive and is asymptomatic:

  • The player/coach will be removed from club activities.

  • The player/coach should monitor daily symptoms and temperature.

  • The player/coach should not engage in exercise until evaluation and clearance from a health care provider.

  • The player/coach may return to club activities 14 days after the positive test, given no subsequent symptoms have developed during that period.


If a player/coach tests positive and is symptomatic:

  • The player/coach will be removed from club activities.

  • The player/coach should monitor daily symptoms and temperature.

  • The player/coach should not engage in exercise until evaluation and clearance from a health care provider.

  • The player/coach may return to club activities 14 days after the positive test, given that they have been free of symptoms for 10 days. If symptoms worsen, the player/coach must contact their medical provider for guidance and best recommendations.


If a player/coach develops symptoms of COVID-19:

  • The player/coach will be removed from club activities.

  • The player/coach should contact a primary care physician to inquire about COVID-19 testing.

  • If the player/coach tests negative, they may return to club activities after being symptom free for 24 hours without medication.

  • If the player/coach tests positive, follow the positive test protocols outlined above.
