Thanks for joining us for tryouts the week of May 2nd! Please see below for what to bring, how to check-in and other helpful tips to keep in mind during tryouts.
If your players is unable to attend one or both of their designated tryout sessions due to other commitments, they are still required to sign up for tryouts. Coach's may use the team's first training session after tryouts on May 9th or 10th to evaluate these players, or the previous season's performance as an assessment for returners. Please email your coach ASAP to let them know which evaluations your player will be missing. All players must be registered for tryouts before they can step foot on the turf for insurance purposes.

Tip #1: Come Prepared
We ask that players do not wear PCU or other club's uniforms to tryouts. Please bring a ball (with players name + phone number, legibly in sharpie), cleats, shinguards and water bottle. Masks are currently optional for all players.
Tip #2: Arrive Early. Players should arrive 30 minutes early to check-in and warm-up.

All tryouts are head at Buckman Field (300 NE 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97232). Players can enter the field by either the Tennis Center on 12th Ave (recommended), the alley by Voodoo Donuts, or the via 16th Ave by the walkway on the north-side of the Buckman Terrace Apartments. There is street parking available at all three entrances.
Families are welcome to accompany their player to the check-in tables, and are permitted to watch tryouts from the track only (not on the turf).

If your player is pre-registered, they will pick-up their tryout number at the “Check-In” tables (#1 on map above). Players will not be permitted to go out on the turf/tryout until they have received a tryout number. YDP (2016-2013) players may report directly to the field, no tryout numbers required.
If your player is not pre-registered, day-of registration will be offered at the table outside the Club House front door (#2 on map above) for $35 a player and must be completed by a parent/guardian (pre-registration highly encouraged). Parents/players should arrive at least 35 minutes before your designated tryout time to complete the day-of registration.
Tip #3: During warm ups, put yourself out there. Introduce yourself to someone, or ask someone to pass or juggle during warm-ups.
Warm-Up: There will be signage for each age-group letting them know where to warm-up in their designated “waiting area.” You coach will call you onto the field when they are ready to start your tryout. Player's will be divided up into cohorts where they will be evaluated by our coaching staff to assess your player's skills, decision making, physiological/psychological aspects of their play.
Tip #4: Be vocal, be positive. Communicate during the game play, tell a teammate "nice pass, good tackle," etc.
Tip #5: Relax. You will make mistakes, everyone does, it is okay to make mistakes! Showing how you respond to those mistakes is what matters more.
Tip #6: Listen; but if you are unsure of something, don't be afraid to ask a question.
Other Important Reminders:
Please bring your tryout number back with you for your second day of tryouts. When you arrive for day two, please go directly to the field to warm-up.
