Sign-Up for Tryouts
Each age-group's tryout schedule including two days of observation. See schedule below.
Players will receive their number or name tag and be divided up into cohorts where they will be evaluated by our coaching staff to assess your player's skills, decision making, physiological/psychological aspects of their play. If you have questions about the tryout process, please contact victoria@pcusc.org. Players are highly encouraged to attend both days of tryout.
All players, new and returning, are required to participate in tryouts.
Deadline: May 1 @ 11:59pm
There is a $25 pre-registration, non-refundable fee to tryout at our club each season. Player's team fees for the season are due once they are offered a spot following tryouts.
Late Registration:
Online late-registration will remain open online May 2nd, up-until your player's tryout session for $35 per player. Please check-in at the pre-registered table to pick-up your tryout number (if you registered within a few hours of your players session, please show your confirmation email to the Day-Of registration table and they'll have your number there for you).
Day-Of Registration:
Will be offered at the Day-Of table outside the Club House's front door for $35 a player and must be completed by a parent/guardian (online, late-registration highly encouraged, see above). Parents/players should arrive at least 45 minutes before your designated tryout time to complete the registration, which will be completed on your own cellphone via our QR code.

Day-of Tryout Instructions
Please see below for what to bring, how to check-in and other helpful tips to keep in mind during tryouts.
Tip #1: View Parking & Directions
Directions: All tryouts are held at Buckman Field Complex (300 NE 12th Ave, Portland).
Parking: Please give yourself enough time to find a spot, walk to the field and complete check-in. There is only street parking available at this facility.
Option 1: Street parking available along 12th Ave near the Portland Tennis Center and Franz Bakery. Please respect our neighbors and DO NOT park in the Tennis Center parking lot. If you walk towards the front doors of the Tennis Center and take a left up the stairs, towards the "bubble," you can take the walkway to the field.
Option 2: Park by Voodoo Donuts on NE Davis (street parking) and enter via the alley way on the west-side of their building.
Option 3: Park along 16th Ave (street parking) and enter the field using the walkway on the north-side of the Buckman Terrace Apartments.
Tip #2: Come Prepared
We ask that players do not wear PCU or other club's uniforms to tryouts. Please bring a ball (with players name + phone number, legible in sharpie), cleats, shinguards and water bottle. The lost & found is located in our club-house if something is misplaced during tryouts.
Tip #3: Arrive 20-30 Minutes Early to Check-In
Pre-registered U11-14 (2014-2006) players, please pick-up your tryout numbers 20-30 minutes before your first tryout session at the check-in tables (see map below).
Pre-registered U8-10 (2017-2015) players, please pick-up your name tags 10-20 minutes before each of the two tryout session on the tables in the classroom (see map below).
Families are welcome to accompany their player to check-in and/or their field but are permitted to watch tryouts from the track only (not on the turf please). Players will not be permitted on the field without a tryout number/name tag.

Tip #4: During Warm-Ups, Put Yourself Out There
During warm-ups, introduce yourself, or ask someone to pass or juggle.
Tip #5: Be Vocal, Be Positive
Communicate during the game play, tell a teammate "nice pass, good tackle," etc.
Tip #6: Relax, it's Okay to Make Mistakes!
You will make mistakes, everyone does, it's okay to make mistakes! Showing how you respond to those mistakes is what matters more.
Tip #7: Most Importantly, Remember to Have Fun!

Tip #8: Listen, But Don't be Afraid to Ask Questions
Players, please feel free to ask your coach questions throughout the tryout sessions. Parents, if you have program, schedule or roster questions, please reach out to victoria@pcusc.org. Tryouts are a very busy time for our coaching staff but we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Tryouts Day 2 Reminders:
For U8-10 (2017-2015) Teams: Please toss your player's name tag following the first session. These players will re-check-in on day 2 of tryouts by picking up a new name tag in the club-house classroom.
For U11-19 (2014-2006): Please bring your tryout number back with you for your second day of tryouts. When you arrive for day two, please go directly to the field to warm-up, no need to check back in.
How will my player know if they've made a team?
Players who are offered spots will receive the official club invitation via email from SportsConnect (to the email used to register for tryouts) within 24 hours* of the age-groups second tryout date, letting them know if they've made a team. Families have 48 hours from the time the invitation is sent to accept their spot and make their first payment.
*If your player is on a team's waitlist, they may receive an acceptance or decline after the 24 hour window, due to the large number of players we have try out. Coaches will work as quickly as possible to notify all players (we appreciate your patience!). If you have any questions, please reach out at victoria@pcusc.org. Please include your players first and last name and birthdate.
Players are not committed on a roster until they accept their spot via the offer email and make their first payment. Players are not permitted to attend training until they have officially accepted their spot.
Coaches will be in contact with accepted players via email within a few days of their tryout with more information, including the age-group's annual calendar and TeamSnap App invitation.

Uniforms
New players are welcome to order once they've accepted their spot. Returning players, uniforms for the 2024/25 season are the same as the 2023/24 season and do not need to be repurchased.
