PCU Winter Development Camp

Registration OPEN, 2014-2018 players of all abilities welcome!

Whether you're returning from our Summer/Fall program, or you're new to PCU and are looking to transition from recreational to developmental soccer, this program is a great way to build up technical skills and in-game decision making ahead of our Spring team tryouts. Program includes two training sessions a week, structured as a 5 week camp (no games, but can be done in conjunction with PCU's Winter 5v5 League). Sessions run Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6pm at Buckman Field from December 2 - January 15. There will be no camp during Winter Break (12/18 - 1/6), see full schedule and learn more. No tryout required.

U11-14 Annual Program: Join Mid-Season

Pending Availability, 2014-2006 competitive players

Tryouts for our competitive teams are held in May of each year. If you are interested in joining one of our teams mid-season, please reach out to victoria@pcusc.org with the following information and we will connect you with your player's age-group's Head Coach who can confirm if they have any spots currently open.

  • Players Legal First & Last Name

  • Players birth date (including year)

  • Are they currently enrolled with another competitive soccer club and if so, why are you looking to transfer?

  • Any other previously playing experience or details for the coach.

If they do have a spot available, we'll help get your player registered for a tryout and have them attend one of the the team's regular training sessions as an evaluation. Please note, each age-group's tryout registration must be opened manually by a member of our staff. Victoria will confirm your registration window once the tryout is coordinated. There is $35 late-registration, non-refundable fee to tryout at our club each season. Player's pro-rated team fees for the season are due once they are offered a spot following tryouts.

Day-of Tryout Instructions

Please see below for what to bring, how to check-in and other helpful tips to keep in mind during tryouts.

Tip #1: View Parking & Directions

  • Directions: All tryouts are held at Buckman Field Complex (300 NE 12th Ave, Portland).

  • Parking: Please give yourself enough time to find a spot, walk to the field and complete check-in. There is only street parking available at this facility.

Tip #2: Come Prepared

We ask that players do not wear PCU or other club's uniforms to tryouts. Please bring a ball (with players name + phone number, legible in sharpie), cleats, shinguards and water bottle. The lost & found is located in our club-house if something is misplaced during tryouts.

Tip #3: Arrive 10-15 Minutes Early to Check-In

Families are welcome to accompany their player to their field but are permitted to watch tryouts from outside the track only (not on the turf please). Please plan to connect with the Head Coach a few minutes before the session starts to introduce yourself.

Tip #4: During Warm-Ups, Put Yourself Out There

During warm-ups, introduce yourself, or ask someone to pass or juggle.

Tip #5: Be Vocal, Be Positive

Communicate during the game play, tell a teammate "nice pass, good tackle," etc.

Tip #6: Relax, it's Okay to Make Mistakes!

You will make mistakes, everyone does, it's okay to make mistakes! Showing how you respond to those mistakes is what matters more.

Tip #7: Listen, But Don't be Afraid to Ask Questions.

Most importantly, remember, have fun!

Tip #8: See Information Below About How to Know if Your Player Makes a Team

Thank you again for joining us for tryouts!

How will my player know if they've made a team?

Players who are offered spots will receive the official club invitation via email from SportsConnect (to the email used to register for tryouts) within 48 hours of their tryout, letting them know if they've made a team. Families have 48 hours from the time the invitation is sent to accept their spot and make their first payment.

Players are not committed on a roster until they accept their spot via the offer email and make their first payment. Players are not permitted to attend training until they have officially accepted their spot. If joining mid-season, cost will be prorated based on first practice date.

Coaches will be in contact with accepted players via email within a few days of their tryout with more information, including the age-group's annual calendar and TeamSnap App invitation.
