YDP (2013-2016) - Spring 2023 Season

Welcome to the Spring 2023 YDP season with Portland City United Soccer Club (PCU)!

Please see the information below regarding the next steps following tryouts and the annual calendar. If you have any questions, please reach out at victoria@pcusc.org.

Post Tryout To-Do-List:

1) Officially Accept Your Player’s Spot via SportsConnect

  • Players have received an email from the club with instructions to login and officially accept your spot through the registration portal. Please accept your player's spot within 48 hours of receiving this notification by logging into your SportsConnect account. Players are not committed on a roster or permitted to attend training until they have officially accepted their spot.

  • Financial aid applications are available for qualifying families and must be submitted via email within 3 days of accepting your player's spot.

  • Payment plans available upon request. Please reach out to victoria@pcusc.org for more information.

  • After a player accepts a spot on a team, no refunds will be issued for the Spring 2023 season.

2) Uniforms & Jersey Numbers

  • Uniforms can be ordered at Tursi Soccer. We recommend not adding a number to your YDP player’s jerseys, as it is not required by the league.

  • Players should plan to wear their black kit to training as soon as possible.

  • Please contact victoria@pcusc.org if you have any questions regarding uniforms.

3) Medical Release and Concussion Forms

  • Both returners and new players need to complete and submit these two forms.

  • Players can bring paper copied to the coaches during the first practice (Monday, 2/6), or can scan/submit via email at their age-group's Head Coach.

  • Medical Release

  • Concussion Form

4) TeamSnap

  • Our coaching staff communicates with their team's players and families on TeamSnap, which can be accessed via their app or desktop version. At our club, it is primarily used for team communication, to collect availability for games/tournaments and allows for parent-to-parent communication to coordinate carpooling, etc. All messages sent from your coach will be accessible on TeamSnap, but are also delivered via email to the addresses on file.

  • Families will receive an invitation to join their age-groups TeamSnap from their coaching staff within the first week of training.

In our Youth Development Program (YDP), players born 2013-2016 will be challenged through fun games and team interaction. This program prepares players for competitive soccer and improves recreational players' skills. The engaging, age-appropriate program focuses on the early development of individual players.

Players will train with their age-group (based on their birth-year) on Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-7pm at Buckman Field from February 6 to May 3. Coaches will form teams based on skill level and YDP players will participate in OYSA’s 4v4 or 7v7 (based on age-group) Development League at Delta Park on Sundays.

Potential Game Dates include 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30 & 5/7.

What does the year look like for players in this age-group?

Players who wish to continue with the program after the Spring season will register for our Summer-Fall Membership which runs May-November 2023. Tryouts for this program will be held in early May. The program includes two training sessions per week (Monday/Wednesday evenings) at Buckman Field. Team participate in Summer tournaments and jamborees in June, July, & August in the Portland Metro Area: Beaverton 4v4 (June), PCU Summer Classic (July), PCU Rose City Classic (August). Teams participate in OYSA’s Developmental 4v4 Fall League on Sundays in September, October, & November at Delta Park against other local clubs. The cost for this program is $650.00.

We run our Winter Development Camp in December and January (no tryout required, players of all abilities welcome). The program is a great way to build up skills if you are interested in joining one of our teams for the Spring or Fall. It includes two practices each week at Buckman Field Park, structured as a 6-week camp. There are no games associated with this program. Cost: $120 per player
